Well I’ve just decided to take part in a photo challenge on WordPress for the first time, so here goes. The post setting the challenge is here: A Word in Your Ear blog.
Here in the UK we experience some quite varied weather. As some of you may know, we are in the midst of utter chaos caused by 3-4 inches of quite widespread snow, and a few areas with 12 inches or more. Not really a lot by many standards, but the country just does not have the facilities and equipment to cope with it.
Lightning is something I haven’t seen for quite some time. Last time I saw it though, here is what I got:

wow, look at the lightning bolt! Great shot.
GREAT SHOT!
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Great timing on that one… Love it
Fantastic shot!
I keep trying to get good lighting shots, but never quite manage it. Well done!
Take a look at my previous post, I wrote some tips about it here: https://convexum.wordpress.com/2012/04/03/photographing-lightning/
Thanks for the tips, Laurence. My biggest problem is never being in the right place at the right time. Another problem is that by the time the lightning is close enough the forward edges of the storm are dumping rain on us. I’ll just keep at it, though. Cheers!
I was lucky with that shot because we had a good view of the coastline. In fact when you zoom in on it, the lightning fork actually disappears behind the horizon, as we were a little above sea level, the horizon is somewhere about 25 miles away, so that lightning fork was even further away.
Great shot! Thanks for the link to shooting lightening. It is one of those shots I have wanted to do, but struggle with! Just have to wait for storm season now.
Awesome shot!
